Happy Birthday, Mr. Shakespeare! is The Old Globe’s annual AXIS celebration for our longest resident playwright! We invite families to join us on our Copley Plaza for live music, puppetry, Shakespearean performances, craft making, a stage sword fighting workshop, an Elizabethan dance presentation, and more. This event is free to attend and takes place on April 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Come party for the Bard!
11:00 a.m. -11:05 a.m.: Musical Intro
11:05 a.m. - 11:10 a.m.: Program Introduction with Hosts
11:10 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.: Sonnet performances from the cast of The XIXth (The Nineteenth)
11:20 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Puppet show featuring a scene from Twelfth Night presented as a telenovela with Gaston Morineau and Veronica Burgess
11:30 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.: Shakespeare monologues performed by M.F.A students
11:40 a.m. - 12:00: Renaissance Dance Workshop with Farah Dinga
12:00 p.m. - 12:15 p.m.: Shakespeare Scenes by M.F.A students
12:15 p.m. - 1:00: Fight Choreography demonstration and workshop led by Ben Cole
1:00 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.: Shakespeare scenes performed by M.F.A students
1:15 p.m. - 1:20 p.m.: Happy Birthday to Mr. Shakespeare! Sing-along
1:20 p.m. - 1:25 p.m.: Wrap up program
